Chances are, you’re sitting inside right now, curled up as you wait for another Cleveland winter to pass…dreaming of fresh fruits and veggies and waiting for spring. We can’t make the winter go by any faster (we do live in Cleveland, after all!). And unfortunately, kiwis and pineapples don’t grow in below-freezing temps. But there is a way to eat fresh, local, fantastic food during the winter: Enter Countryside Conservancy. Countryside Conservancy is a year-round farmers market that offers seasonal produce and local foods, even in the winter! Today, as the first snow flies, we’re taking the afternoon to daydream about the fun we’ve had working in the sun. In memory of summer 2014, here are our favorite moments from the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park‘s Topography event. Here’s hoping for an indian summer before the blizzards begin! Mackenzie Creamery has been churning out award winning goat cheese for seven years. It all began with a cheesemaking course taken by Jean while on vacation. It was then that she found her calling and got down to business (literally!) on launching her own. In less than six months, Mackenzie Creamery was born in the lower level of her barn in Hiram, Ohio. Since then, Jean has not only grown a successful business and national reputation; she’s also taken her love for the industry to new heights by founding the Ohio Cheese Guild. The farm itself has provided a beautiful backdrop for many Plated Landscape dinners over the years, with equally beautiful dishes inspired by the creamery’s distinctive flavor profiles.
